Fisheries improvements 2014

It’s been a very busy time for the club, regarding working parties and general maintenance this month, as many members have noticed we have major improvement work underway to the car parks at Dilhorne, this work was scheduled for May but due to the logistics and avaliability of the contractors had to be arranged at very short notice. The work should be completed within the next week.

To compliment the fantastic job that our work party team has done at Black lake making almost the entirity of the bankside accessible to anglers we have arranged for a tree surgeon to remove the remaining boughs that we simply couldn’t manage, which should open up the majority of the water.

Peg work is to be carried out at the Overflow complex. A delivery of stone should be made soon to enable this work to be carried out.

A close eye is being kept on the lilies at Ashley as we now have permission from the Environment Agency to treat them with an approved herbicide, a contractor is already in place to carry out the treatment, subject to growth and weather conditions, treatment is expected to be completed within the next few weeks.

Please be patient with the ongoing work at all waters, some inconvenience should be expected during the maintenance program but these essential works have to be done.

Any member wishing to become involved with our maintenance program should contact the head bailiff or attend a monthly meeting. Working parties can be a very rewarding and informative experience often attended by long standing members of the club who have a wealth of knowledge that will make your fishing all the more enjoyable.

We look forward to seeing you soon, wether it be on the bankside, at a work party or meeting.

Tight lines.
