Well the football didn’t come home after all but it was only ever going to be a warm up for our big weekend anyway.
We’re aiming to beat last year’s record breaking event with the addition of several more tackle stalls to go with all the usual attractions, there’ll be discount gear on offer from Trentside tackle, Bucknall bikes and fishing tackle and a stall from the guys at get hooked on fishing with all proceeds going to this fantastic government backed charity.
Also new for this year is a bring and buy sale, this really couldn’t be simpler, bring your old or unwanted tackle and we’ll sell it for you at no commission, if you want to make a donation to the club or to GHOF it would be very much appreciated but absolutely not essential.
Bringing new blood into fishing is always at the forefront of the free fishing weekend and this year is no different, coaching sessions will be available and our elves are ridiculously busy filling goody bags for those taking part.
Over the last few years the society has seen a huge increase in our game angling numbers and the addition of member Geoff Pittham’s Fly-ology stall should be popular along with a stand from our good friends at the potteries fly tying club. More attractions are expected to be added soon.
Traditionally there’s a barbecue on Saturday night for “staff” this year we’d like to invite members and guests to join us for the evening, bring your beers and wine and enjoy a lovely night out in beautiful surroundings. It’ll be so much better than a penalty shoot out !
