Impromptu work parties were carried out this weekend at Groundslow and Parrots pools, strimmers, mowers and loppers were put to good use in a general tidy up at groundslow along with more weed clearing at both pools.
Our new rakes were put to the test removing huge swathes of weed from Parrots and swim clearing at groundslow, with several swims opened up through the weed at the top end of the pool. Parrots is still going to be a long term project and members should not get excited just yet but groundslow is definitely up and running.
First to take advantage of the new swims was bailiff Gary Whalley, Gary enjoyed a hectic session with a bumper catch made up of sixteen tench, six bream and a carp of around twelve pounds, Gary also hooked one of the pool’s huge carp that tested his gear to the limit before slipping the hook in the remaining weed.
Groundslow is slowly but surely revealing it’s true potential, the beautiful tench are showing well and the carp are feeding, it’s only a matter of time before a monster is landed.
