Fenton and District canal anglers got an early Christmas present this week as nearly four hundred pounds of new stock fish were delivered to the Trent and Mersey at Burrington Drive.
The new stock consisted of a huge number of small skimmers plus between thirty and forty nice bream, with several nudging the five pounds mark, there were also some quality roach and perch which should make the canal a good proposition as the temperatures drop.
Christmas also came early for our stillwater anglers as around six hundred pounds of top quality silver fish were stocked into Black Lake at Fulford. Pristine roach and rudd were the mainstay of this stocking ranging in size from a few ounces to just over the pound mark plus a few small carp, the odd gudgeon and some fantastic perch, with at least one specimen breaking the magical three pounds barrier.
Further stockings are to be made in December as the society continues to follow its stocking policy at Dilhorne, with the two main pools receiving more carp, and Tench, bream and crucians ordered for Finneys pools. There are plans for more fish next year, with the Overflow, Maer pool and Black lake benefitting from the introduction of more quality stock fish giving the society some of the best club waters in Staffordshire.
