Fresh from our super successful appearance at the British Fly Fair International a fortnight ago it was easy to think that it couldn’t really get any better, how wrong could we be ?

Recovered and reorganised our promotions team arrived at Event City Manchester to dip their toes into uncharted waters at the northern angling show.

As usual our impressive trade stand attracted attention from anglers and membership sales and enquiries were many with our supply of business cards and leaflets completely wiped out by Sunday afternoon.

Several new opportunities arose over the weekend as a result of our growing reputation, a trade account with Skretting aquaculture feeds is to be set up which will allow us to feed our stock pools and ultimately grow on fish for future stockings at a fraction of the usual price, a potential sponsorship deal was discussed with a leading bait company for our free fishing weekend, there was also a promising lead for a new water to follow up and the incredibly down to earth Des Taylor offered us a magazine feature on the Dove and Churnet, all of this coupled with the extraordinary generosity of tackle companies made for a fantastic and very successful debut at the show.

The weekend, whilst very hard work was also an opportunity to meet some of the great characters of the sport. The normally super confident Adam went week at the knees in the presence of his angling hero Steve Ringer and Andy’s already week knees due to his advancing years were severely tested when the legend that is Des Taylor signed up for membership, Dean Macey paid us a visit and Jeremy Wade was a true gentleman, unfortunately Stan’s old school chum Izaak Walton was unable to attend.

Thanks as always to our superb team for yet another weekend of hard work.

Sincere thanks also to our new friends including Des Taylor, Steve Ringer, Dean Macey, Jeremy Wade, Fox and Matrix tackle, Bait Tech, Maver, Spotted fin baits, Dynamite baits, Aqua products, Ridge monkey, Trakker, Advanta, Guru and CarpTalk magazine.
