Anyone who has fished or watched any of the Fenton and District juvenile matches will know how John Deaville (Fenton Juvenile Match Secretary) encourages the youngsters to use a whip. Most of the juveniles who have taken part have received a whip (courtesy of the club) and shown how to use it and a recent match was won by a juvenile angler who set up initially with traditional rod and reel but was “persuaded” to switch to a whip and with a little coaching went onto win.
So its nice to see that outside of the matches the whips are still being used to good effect as proven by a photo sent in by Mattie Evans.
I have found some short videos aimed at beginners to both whip fishing and coarse fishing in general and these can be seen on the fishing videos page.
